You're Engaged! Now What?!
Updated: Feb 22
Your now fiance just popped the question and you have so many thoughts rushing through your head. Excitement, stress, maybe feeling a little nervous. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed of what all you need to do and scared you might forget something. Well, take a breath. Everything is going to be just fine. To help out all my lovely brides, I've written out a few tips to get you started now that you are soon to be a bride! And keep an eye out during the next couple of weeks as I have some guests vendors writing out their own tips and tricks for you!
1. Congratulations!! Now breathe.
This is one of the most exciting times in your life. Take some time to celebrate with family and friends, and even just between the two of you. There is no rush to plan the entire wedding day the day after your proposal. According to The Knot's 2019 Real Wedding Study, the average couple spent 15 months engaged and planning their big day. There is time. Relax and enjoy the experience!
2. Determine some key factors
Now that you're ready to start planning, get real with yourself and what is realistic to you and your loved one. Determine a date first, that way when reaching out to vendors they can give you a definite yes or no. Everything pretty much revolves around the date. Second, but also equally important, get real about the numbers. Determine a budget that will meet the reality of your family. A simple wedding on your family's property can be just as beautiful as a grand destination wedding in the Cayman Islands. A few other factors you should determine early on is guest size, venue, and even consider some ring insurance for that new sparkly item on your hand.
3. Consider Hiring a Planner
Now, this certainly is not a have to. However, if you know you are slammed with work, not sure what all you need to do, who all you need to contact, etc, etc. adding a wedding planner into your budget is an extremely great and helpful thing to do. They will help with planning every bit of your wedding day. Maybe a full planner isn't in the budget, consider a day of coordinator to make sure everything gets set up, the day runs on time and smoothly, and the stress is taken off your shoulders. Next week, Madi Edwards from Wedding Lily Events will be sharing her tips and tricks about hiring a planner and what to expect!
4. Have fun and enjoy the experience!
Do not stress! I know that is so much easier said than done. But remember, this is your day to celebrate the love of you and your significant other. Not every little detail may be perfect. Take the time to enjoy the experience and have fun doing it. Everything will come together, I promise.
Don't forget to check back in next week for our guest writer, Madi Edwards from Wedding Lily Events!
